(January 22, 2010) WINDSOR - Members of Provincial Parliament Dwight Duncan, Sandra Pupatello and Bruce Crozier announced today that the Ontario Government will continue its support for the staging of the Red Bull Air Race in Windsor.
Working with the City of Windsor, the Province of Ontario is providing a sponsorship of €6.55 million over two years. In 2010, Windsor will host another exciting race on the weekend of June 5th and 6th.
“Last year’s event was not just an economic shot in the arm for Windsor. The excitement of the race was plainly seen not only by the people of Windsor but also the hundreds of thousands of viewers from around the world who tuned in to watch the race,” said Dwight Duncan MPP for Windsor Tecumseh. “Our government is pleased to work with Red Bull and the City in order to bring this fun and productive event back to Windsor.”
“This is a great coup for our city. Windsor will be joining a select group of major international cities to host the Red Bull Air Race again in 2010,” said Sandra Pupatello, MPP for Windsor West. “We look forward to welcoming this unique event and the economic boost it will provide to our region.”
“I am thrilled that the red bull air race is returning to Windsor,” said Bruce Crozier, MPP Essex. “By putting our region on the world stage, this popular event will attract thousands of visitors to Windsor and Essex County, generating economic benefits that will be felt well after the races are over.”
“We look forward to the return of the Red Bull Air Race and the success of last year’s race proves that Windsor can be a great host to a world-class event,” said Mayor Eddie Francis. “Our City is thrilled to be working with the Province to make the 2010 race in Windsor equally as successful."
